Wills & Estates

We manage risk saving you time, money and heartache in the future
and, as much as is possible, provide certainty as to the distribution of your loved one's assets.

Wills

When you see us about your Will, tell us not only your intentions for your assets, but also your assets as you hold them now.  Learn how you may transfer your assets to most effectively achieve your intentions for your estate.

Before you come in and see us carefully consider:
  • who you wish to be your executor, and bring that person's address, telephone number, occupation and relationship to you;
  • what assets you hold and how you hold them (eg solely or jointly);
  • any specific items you wish to pass onto specific people;
  • who you wish to receive the remainder of your assets; and
  • who may be entitled to expect to receive the assets of your estate.

Powers of Attorney

When you see us about your Enduring Power of Attorney, you learn the types of decisions your attorney may make, when your attorney can make them and the risks to you.

Before you come in and see us, carefully consider:
  • who you wish to be your attorney;
  • whether you would like them to control your finances as well as your lifestyle and physical person  (ie personal/health decisions); and
  • if you wish your attorney to be able to control your finances, when you would like this to begin.
Estates

Losing a loved one is difficult enough without complicated paperwork.

If your loved one has passed away the first place to start in the funeral., which is usually organised by the executor or a loved one.  If you believe we hold your loved one's Will, contact us before the funeral arrangements are made to ensure there are no details in the Will regarding the funeral or ceremony.  Take time to grieve your loved one before meeting with us to discuss the paperwork.

When you see us about your loved one's estate, step through the assets and liabilities which he or she may have and learn how those assets and liabilities need to be administered and which entities need to be advised.

Before you come in and see us, carefully consider:
  • who are the executors of the estate and where are they located;
  • who are the beneficiaries of the estate and where are they located;
  • is there anyone who expects more than they receive in the Will; and
  • what assets does your loved one hold and what debts do they owe?

To make the process smoother, try to bring in any paperwork relating to the assets or liabilities of the estate so we can obtain relevant reference numbers.
